How to sell ads on any HTML site
Short answer
Add your keyed Sponsor.st script just before </body> in the template your HTML pages share, then publish. No server or database is needed on your side. Verify the install, mark a placement on the live page, set its monthly price and connect Stripe or Dodo. If you use a static site generator, rebuild and deploy first.
On this page
<script src="https://cdn.sponsor.st/s.js" data-site="YOUR_KEY" async></script>
Your key is filled in once you add your site.
Start freeAdd Sponsor.st to an HTML site
-
Get your snippet. Create a free account, add your site and copy the tag from the site's page; your key is filled in.
-
Paste it. Open the template or settings where your site's footer is edited. Paste the snippet just before
</body>so it runs on every page, then publish.<script src="https://cdn.sponsor.st/s.js" data-site="YOUR_KEY" async></script> -
Click Check under "Check the install" on your site's page in the dashboard (on first setup it's at the bottom of the install card). Added it through a tag manager? Use Check DNS (a TXT record) or Check file instead.
-
Mark a spot. Open the editor on your live page, click where a sponsor goes, pick a format (Banner, Card, Inline mention, Logo strip or Top bar) and set a monthly price.
-
Connect Stripe or Dodo, then share your booking page or add the "Advertise on {domain}" link to your footer.
Notes for static sites
Static site generators. In Hugo, Jekyll, Eleventy, Astro and similar tools, put the tag in the base layout or footer partial so every page gets it. Rebuild and deploy.
Caches and CDNs. If Cloudflare or your host caches HTML, purge the cache after deploying so visitors get the page with the script.
No markup to add. You don't add a div or an ad slot to your HTML. The editor records where you clicked, and the script places the spot there on each visit.
If Check can't find the script
- Not rebuilt. A site generator only adds the tag on the next build and deploy.
- Old HTML cached. Purge the Cloudflare or host cache after deploying.
- Pasted into one page only. Use the shared layout or partial so every page, including your home page, has the tag.
- A different domain. Check the domain you added to Sponsor.st.
Removing it
Wait until running bookings have ended before deleting the tag. Removing it takes the script and its spots off your pages. If your site gets visits every day, a running booking logs downtime from the last time the script was seen; at the booking's end, those days become a refund due that you pay from your own Stripe or Dodo account. Pulling a booking early also leaves a refund due for its unused days.

FAQ
Does it need a server or a database on my side? No. It's one async script tag. Booking, payment and the start and end of each sponsorship run on Sponsor.st.
Can I use it on a site with no shared template? Yes. Paste the tag into each page that should carry a spot; the rest of the site needs nothing.
